Last 2011 Giveaway!
Happy Thursday, everyone!
I hope you’re having a fantastic December. 🙂 Can you believe that Christmas is only a week and three days away? Wow. I thought I was done with my Christmas shopping, but those loose ends need to get tied up — and quickly. But I have to admit, Christmas pales in comparison to the knowledge that I’m leaving for Africa two weeks from today. TWO WEEKS! OhmygoodnesswhatamIgoingtodo? Honestly, I’m not stressed at all about traveling to the third poorest nation in the world. I’m scared about leaving my kids. My sweet babies…
People have asked me how I can possibly justify it — how I can convince myself that it’s okay to leave my kids for 9 days. And I have to admit that I wonder that sometimes myself. But Aaron and I believe that we are called to live outside of ourselves. That our lives were meant for more than the bustle and rush of every day North American life. We can become so insular, so focused on ourselves. Often I become so concerned with my own kids that I forget there’s a world full of God’s kids — children that need you and me to be the hands and feet of Christ to them. To be the arms of mommy and daddy because they do not have their own. So I’m going to go be a mom to the 56 kids that I know by heart and have loved long-distance for five years. I feel like I know them, and I can’t wait to hold them close. I hope my three boys don’t mind sharing me for just a little while.
But I digress… Can you tell that I have Liberia on the mind? What I’m really blogging for is to introduce my third and final December giveaway. So far you’ve left a comment on my blog and posted on my Facebook page. Today, I’d like you to shoot me an email. If you’d like to win a pre-release copy of my upcoming novel Far From Here, all you have to do is write a quick email to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Put Giveaway in the subject line. That’s it! If you want to include a message, I’d love to hear from you, but I know that we’re all busy right now. Feel free to keep it simple.
Merry Christmas, everyone! Blessings to you in the coming weeks! I look forward to catching up again after the holidays…
